If you care about celebrating and protecting Wisconsin’s unique maritime heritage, then your feedback regarding the following is critical.

On January 9, 2017 the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries officially published a Draft Environmental Impact Statement, a Draft Management Plan, and the Proposed Rule (the sanctuary’s regulations) for the proposed Wisconsin-Lake Michigan National Marine Sanctuary.

The documents posted online make it clear that a sanctuary designation will protect a nationally significant district of maritime resources, train the next generation of Great Lake scientists, and enhance tourism.

The 90 day comment period will close on March 31, 2017.

Please visit regulations.gov to download all of the official documents and provide comments online.  Use the direct link or search for: Docket ID: NOAA-NOS-2016-0150.

Please note, you’ll see a “comment” button next to the Proposed Rule only. This is where you can provide comments on any aspect of the proposal.
